Antalya weather between the Taurus Mountains and the sea
Antalya has hot, dry summers and mild but rainy winters, with the Taurus Mountains rising behind the city. From June to September afternoons reach 31–36 °C and nights stay at 20–24 °C, with rain on only two to five days a month. Winter days are still around 14–16 °C, but December and January are the wettest months, when heavy downpours fall on 11–12 days.
Beach season and city walks
The beach season at Konyaaltı and Lara runs from May to October, and the sea is at its warmest in August and September. For exploring the old town of Kaleiçi, Hadrian’s Gate and the harbour, April–May and October–November are more comfortable, with 21–27 °C, and the Düden waterfalls are at their fullest in spring after the winter rains.
Escaping the midday heat
In July and August, plan walks for the early morning or evening, when the sunset over the Taurus range is best seen from the Hıdırlık Tower and Karaalioğlu Park on the cliffs. During the hottest hours or on a rare rainy day, the Antalya Archaeological Museum, with finds from Perge and the surrounding region, is the city’s main indoor sight.
