Fethiye weather on the Lycian coast
Fethiye has the classic climate of Turkey’s south-west coast: hot, dry summers and mild, rainy winters. From June to September afternoons reach 29–33 °C and there are only one to four rainy days a month, while winter days still bring 14–17 °C. Most of the year’s rain falls from November to February, with up to 14 wet days in January.
Ölüdeniz, paragliding and the Lycian Way
The turquoise lagoon of Ölüdeniz is at its best for swimming from June to September, and paragliders launch from Babadağ mountain above the beach whenever the wind allows. April–May and October–November, with 21–26 °C, are the ideal seasons for hiking stretches of the Lycian Way, as the summer heat makes long walks hard work.
Cool gorges and shady ruins
On the hottest days, the icy river in Saklıkent Gorge is a refreshing escape, and the abandoned stone village of Kayaköy is best explored in the late afternoon. The Lycian rock tombs above the town and the Fethiye Museum are easy to combine on a cloudy or rainy day.
