Mount Dragobrat is a high-mountain ski resort located near the village of Yasinya in the Ukrainian Carpathians, Transcarpathian region, at an altitude of 1,300–1,700 meters. The highest point of the resort is Mount Stoh, which reaches 1,708 meters. Although Dragobrat is commonly referred to as a mountain, the name actually denotes the ski area rather than a single peak.
Access
Access to Dragobrat is challenging due to the 18 km unpaved mountain road leading to the resort. Only four-wheel-drive vehicles or local UAZ jeeps with chains are recommended; passenger cars are generally unsafe. Visitors can also reach Yasinya by train to Ivano-Frankivsk or Rakhiv, followed by a minibus to Yasinya.
Resort Area
The resort sits on a small plateau surrounded by coniferous forests, meadows, and mountains. The area hosts approximately twenty private cottages and hotels, along with the Dragobrat base from which the main ski lifts depart. The natural environment is noted for its clean air and remote, wild atmosphere.
Skiing
The ski complex features several trails of varying difficulty, with a total height difference of about 500 meters. The resort has two chairlifts and eight rope tows, though they do not always operate simultaneously. A training slope for beginners is located near the hotel.
Experienced skiers can access higher nearby peaks, such as Gendarme and Bliznitsa, for freeride descents with the assistance of local residents using UAZ vehicles. The slopes of Mount Stoh are considered steep and more challenging than those at nearby Bukovel, making the resort better suited for advanced skiers. Windy conditions can affect the snow cover on the steep slopes.
Nearby Attractions
The nearest major towns are Rakhiv and Yaremche, and the resort is located near the well-known Ukrainian ski area Bukovel.
