St. Barbara’s Church is one of the most magnificent Gothic churches in Central Europe and the symbol of Kutná Hora. Construction began in 1388 when the town was one of the richest places in Europe thanks to its prosperous silver mines. Dedicated to Saint Barbara, the patron saint of miners, the church reflects the wealth and ambition of the medieval mining community that helped shape the Kingdom of Bohemia.

The church is famous for its soaring vaulted ceilings, elaborate stone carvings, stained-glass windows, and distinctive roofline featuring elegant Gothic spires. Inside, visitors can admire medieval frescoes depicting mining activities, religious scenes, and daily life in Kutná Hora. Admission to Saint Barbara’s Church usually costs around CZK 180–250 for adults, with reduced rates available for students and children. Combination tickets may include other attractions such as the famous Sedlec Ossuary and the Cathedral of the Assumption. Most visitors spend at least half a day exploring both the church and the historic center, although a full-day visit allows time to discover additional museums and mining exhibits.

Kutná Hora is located approximately 80 kilometers east of Prague and can be reached by direct train in about one hour.
