波普拉德斯克湖

Popradské pleso is an alpine glacial lake located in the High Tatras of Slovakia, near the popular mountain resort of Štrbské Pleso. It is considered one of the most picturesque lakes in the Slovak part of the High Tatras.

The lake lies in the Mengusovská Valley at an altitude of 1,494 meters above sea level. The easiest access point is from the Popradské pleso railway station, from where an asphalt path leads to the lake. The walk takes approximately 40 minutes and involves a gentle uphill climb. Motorized access is restricted, and vehicles require a special permit issued by the nature park authorities.

Physical Characteristics

Popradské pleso is of glacial origin, like many other High Tatras lakes. Its main features include:

Near the lake is a small mountain hotel, which offers basic amenities and a café. The café is popular for its local hot tea mixed with dried fruits, which is both inexpensive and highly recommended.

A footpath circles the lake, allowing visitors to walk around Popradské pleso in 25–30 minutes. Several hiking trails also start from here:

• Difficult route to Veľické pleso – involves a steep climb towards Mount Ostrva
