Menton is a coastal town on the French Riviera in southeastern France, located on the Mediterranean Sea near the Italian border. Plage du Borrigo

Plage du Borrigo is situated west of the town center along the Promenade du Soleil. It is a public beach with free access. The shoreline consists mainly of medium-sized pebbles typical of the Côte d’Azur. The seabed also contains pebbles, and the water becomes deep relatively quickly compared to some of the more sheltered beaches closer to the Old Town. Plage du Borrigo is generally less crowded than the central beaches and is frequented by both residents and visitors seeking a quieter atmosphere. Basic facilities, including showers and nearby food establishments, are available in the surrounding area.

Plage de Fossan

Plage de Fossan lies near Menton’s historic center, in close proximity to the promenade and cultural attractions. It is a municipal beach open to the public without charge. The surface is composed of small pebbles and fine gravel, offering a more even shoreline than some other sections of the coast. The entry into the sea is comparatively gradual, making it suitable for families with children. The beach includes a wooden esplanade area and is typically supervised by lifeguards during the summer season. Additional amenities such as showers and easy pedestrian access contribute to its popularity.

Plage Solenzara

Plage Solenzara is located to the west of Menton, near the border with the neighboring commune of Roquebrune-Cap-Martin. The beach consists mainly of pebbles, with clear Mediterranean waters and a gently sloping seabed. It includes both public sections with free access and private areas managed by beach clubs, where visitors may rent sun loungers and umbrellas for a fee. Facilities in the vicinity include restaurants and seasonal services. Owing to its location and mixed public-private structure, Plage Solenzara attracts a diverse range of visitors during the summer months.

Other Urban Beaches

In addition to the beaches mentioned above, Menton’s coastline includes several other municipal beaches distributed along the bay. These beaches share similar characteristics: pebble surfaces, clear water, and proximity to the town’s promenade and infrastructure. Together they form a continuous seaside area that contributes significantly to Menton’s identity as a Mediterranean resort town.
