Sablettes beach (Plage des Sablettes) is one of the principal urban beaches of Menton, located at the eastern end of the town along the Baie du Soleil, at the foot of the historic Old Town (Vieux Menton). It occupies a central position between the port area and the colorful hillside buildings that characterize the town’s seafront. Due to its location and infrastructure, it is considered one of the most frequented beaches in Menton.

The beach was redeveloped in the 21st century as part of a coastal improvement project aimed at widening the shoreline and enhancing public access. Today, it forms a broad, open waterfront space lined with palm trees and pedestrian walkways. Sablettes beach is a municipal beach with free public access, although certain sections may include private concessions offering paid services such as sun loungers and umbrellas during the summer season.

Unlike many beaches along the French Riviera that consist primarily of large pebbles, Sablettes beach is composed mainly of fine gravel and small pebbles, with a smoother surface compared to other beaches in Menton. The seabed slopes gradually, and the water is typically clear and calm under normal weather conditions. During the bathing season, which usually extends from late spring to early autumn, average sea temperatures range from approximately 22 °C to 25 °C in summer.

The beach is equipped with seasonal lifeguard supervision, public showers, and nearby sanitary facilities. Owing to its proximity to the Old Town, visitors have immediate access to restaurants, cafés, and shops. The open layout and improved pedestrian areas make it suitable for families, swimmers, and visitors seeking easy access from the town center. As a result, Sablettes beach plays a significant role in Menton’s identity as a Mediterranean seaside resort.
