皇家瓦津基公园 (Łazienki Królewskie), 华沙, 波兰

Royal Łazienki (Łazienki Królewskie), often called the Royal Baths Park, is a sprawling 76-hectare complex in central Warsaw and the former summer residence of Poland’s last king, Stanisław August Poniatowski. Laid out in the English landscape style in the late 18th century, it combines manicured gardens, an ornamental lake, wooded glades and a collection of elegant palaces and pavilions. The park’s name derives from a 17th-century bathhouse (“łazienka”) that once stood on the site and was later transformed into the king’s residence.

The centrepiece is the Palace on the Isle (Pałac na Wyspie), a neoclassical residence set on an artificial lake with beautifully preserved 18th-century interiors, including the Solomon Room, the Ballroom and a fine collection of Dutch paintings. Other notable buildings include the Old Orangery with its Royal Sculpture Gallery and historic court theatre, and the Myślewicki Palace. The park is also famous for its Art Nouveau Chopin Monument, beneath which free open-air piano recitals are held every Sunday at noon and 4:00 pm from mid-May through September. White peacocks, squirrels and ducks roam freely, adding to the tranquil atmosphere.

The park entrances are located along Agrykola and Ujazdowskie Avenue, roughly midway along the Royal Route. It can be reached by bus 116 or 180 to the “Łazienki Królewskie” stop, or by taking the metro (line M1) to Politechnika station followed by a 10-minute walk. Entry to the park and gardens is completely free and open daily from dawn until dusk. The museum interiors, including the Palace on the Isle, require a separate ticket of roughly 20–25 PLN (reduced rates available), with free admission on Thursdays; the historic buildings are typically closed on Mondays.
