Prague Zoo in Troja, on the right bank of the Vltava north of the city centre, opened in 1931 and celebrates its 95th anniversary in 2026. It has been ranked among the best zoos in the world, and its terraced grounds above the river are known for conservation projects such as returning Przewalski’s horses to Mongolia.
Highlights include the Dja Reserve gorilla pavilion, the Indonesian Jungle, Elephant Valley, the Chambal pavilion with gharials and the chairlift that carries visitors to the upper part of the zoo.
The zoo is at U Trojského zámku 3, next to Troja Château. Bus 112 runs there from Nádraží Holešovice metro station (line C), and in summer you can also arrive by boat on the Vltava.
The zoo is open every day: 9:00–16:00 in winter, until 17:00 in March and October, 18:00 in April, May and September and 19:00 from June to August. A ticket costs CZK 330 for adults and CZK 250 for children aged 3–15 at the ticket office, or CZK 300 and CZK 200 as an e-ticket; a family ticket costs CZK 1,000 (CZK 850 online), children under 3 enter free, and in July and August entry after 17:00 costs CZK 100.
