From the slope of the Weinberg hill, next to the Bruno Weber Park, there is a wide view over Dietikon and the Limmat Valley towards the wooded hills on the other side of the valley.
Dietikon, with about 28,000 inhabitants, is the fifth-largest municipality in the canton of Zurich. It lies west of Zurich, where the Reppisch flows into the Limmat, and was first mentioned in 1100. In September 1799, during the Second Battle of Zurich, French troops crossed the Limmat here, which is why the name of Dietikon is inscribed on the Arc de Triomphe in Paris.
Besides the Bruno Weber Park, the nearby earth houses by Peter Vetsch, which look like hobbit homes, are worth a look. Dietikon is about 15 minutes from Zurich main station by S-Bahn (S11, S12) and is also linked to Zurich-Altstetten by the Limmattalbahn light rail; from Dietikon station, bus 325 runs up to the Weinberg.
