Stare Mesto Prague

The old streets of Prague form a distinctive feature of the city. In the center of Prague, within the Stare Mesto (Old Town) district, medieval buildings are well preserved. Narrow cobblestone pedestrian streets are lined with 3–4 storey houses, many of which are decorated with frescoes, sculptures, and bas-reliefs. The most notable streets in the Old Town include Celetná Street, Anežská Street, Dlouhá Street, Husova Street, Hlavsova Street, and Havířská Street. In addition, Golden Street (Zlatá ulička) within Prague Castle is a popular historic site. Other notable areas include streets beneath Prague Castle along the Vltava embankment and Nerudova Street in Mala Strana. While major tourist sites are often crowded, exploring adjacent side streets allows visitors to experience the historic architecture with fewer crowds.

Na Příkopě, a long pedestrian thoroughfare encircling the Old Town, separates the historical center from the New Town. Originally the site of a city moat and defensive walls, the area was transformed into a promenade as the city expanded. Today, Na Příkopě is a commercial hub, hosting a wide range of shops, boutiques, and modern buildings, making it a popular destination for both shopping and walking.
