Fête de la Transhumance in Castellane

In Castellane, the highlight of the event is the ceremonial passage of sheep through the village streets. Hundreds — sometimes thousands — of animals move slowly through the town, guided by shepherds and sheepdogs. The sight and sound of bells echoing against the mountain backdrop create a powerful and unforgettable atmosphere. Visitors can stand along the narrow streets and watch as the herd passes only a few meters away, offering a rare and intimate experience of pastoral life.
